Week 6 Blitz
Your guide to this week's games across rural West Tennessee.

Region 6-1A
Collinwood (2-3, 0-0) at Bruceton (3-2, 0-1)
Previous meeting: 2025 - Collinwood 43, Bruceton 22
Players to watch: Bruceton P Tanner Walters
What to know: The Tigers need to come out strong to avoid a second loss in region play and avoid being behind the 8-ball before September’s done. If it becomes a field position battle, big plays on special teams will be needed.
Region 7-1A
Humboldt (5-0, 2-0) at Dresden (3-2, 2-0)
Previous meeting: 2025 - Dresden 70, Humboldt 24
Players to watch: Humboldt WR Darion Taylor; Dresden DB Carson Ledzema
What to know: There are three teams remaining undefeated in region play. At least one of them will lose this week. Humboldt has been one of the most dynamic teams in the area so far this season, but Dresden could be the toughest team on their schedule so far.
West Carroll (0-5, 0-2) at Greenfield (3-2, 0-1)
Previous meeting: 2025 - Greenfield 30, West Carroll 0
Players to watch: West Carroll OL Noah Cecchini; Greenfield QB Knox Liggett
What to know: The season has been up and down for the Yellowjackets, while the War Eagles are looking for something positive to happen on any scoreboard they play under. If the version of Greenfield that’s come out in the game they’ve lost shows up in this one, the War Eagles could pull off an upset.
Region 5-2A
Riverside (3-2, 1-1) at Loretto (1-4, 1-1)
Previous meeting: 2025 - Riverside 23, Loretto 20
Players to watch: Riverside WR Jack Cupples
What to know: The Panthers have a long trip into Middle Tennessee and almost into Alabama for this matchup. The Mustangs haven’t done much this season, but if the Panthers deal for too long with bus lag, it could be a long night for the boys from Decatur County.
Mt. Pleasant (2-3, 0-2) at Scotts Hill (0-5, 0-2)
Previous meeting: 2025 - Mt. Pleasant 48, Scotts Hill 0
Players to watch: Scotts Hill P Curtis Williams
What to know: Just like West Carroll, the Lions are looking for something positive to happen on the scoreboard. They’ve got a decent ground game, but the defense needs to get off the field more quickly.
Region 7-2A
Gibson Co. (1-4, 0-2) at Huntingdon (5-0, 3-0)
Previous meeting: 2025 - Huntingdon 44, Gibson Co. 6
Players to watch: Gibson Co. LB Jackayden Ivie; Huntingdon RB Hayes Eubanks
What to know: The Pioneers jump out of the frying pan that is Milan and into the fire that is Huntingdon. The Mustangs won big last week and have a big non-region game next week, so a possible trap game could be in the making here.
Peabody (3-2, 1-1) at Union City (2-3, 1-0)
Previous meeting: 2025 - Peabody 28, Union City 7
Players to watch: Peabody P Franklin Elliott; Union City WR Kararian Scates
What to know: It wasn’t that long ago when this matchup was between teams that would go on to play in at least the state semifinals almost every year. Both are young and are in need of momentum in region play. Both also need to establish more consistent success in the ground game.
Milan (3-2, 1-1) at JCM (3-2, 1-1)
Previous result: 2025 - Milan 21, JCM 7
Players to watch: Milan KR Jeremiah Conley; JCM LB Taeshon Curry
What to know: These teams are in a similar situation to North Side and Crockett County. They both already have a region loss to Huntingdon, and the loser of this game will be in a tough spot vying for a top-two finish in the region. The good thing for both teams is that what’s hindered them in their recent losses are simple fixes, but they do need to be fixed. Both teams are good enough to expose or exploit any weaknesses in the other team.
Region 6-3A
Cheatham Co. (3-2, 1-1) at Camden (1-4, 1-0)
Previous meeting: 2025 - Camden 41, Cheatham Co. 7
Players to watch: Camden WR Kade Johnson
What to know: Johnson has become a weapon for the Lions in the pass game. Camden hasn’t won often this year, but so far the Lions have won the most important game. Entering October with a perfect record in region play would make a 2-4 record seem a lot nicer.
Region 7-3A
Obion Co. (3-2, 0-2) at Dyersburg (3-2, 2-0)
Previous meeting: 2025 - Dyersburg 37, Obion Co. 20
Players to watch: Obion Co. WR Chace Jenkins; Dyersburg LB J.P. Noblin
What to know: It’s homecoming in Dyersburg, and there’s a lot going on. It’s been a while since the Rebels have topped the Trojans, plus these teams are moving in different directions. If Obion wants to slow their slide, a win here would be a quick way to do that, but this is the final game against the big three in the region.
Ripley (1-4, 0-1) at Covington (4-1, 1-0)
Previous meeting: 2025 - Covington 58, Ripley 0
Players to watch: Ripley WR Jonathan Currie; Covington LB Jeremiah Ware
What to know: The Chargers are trying to keep their momentum going in their second region game.
Bolivar (1-4, 1-1) at McNairy (3-2, 0-2)
Previous meeting: 2025 - McNairy 35, Bolivar 27
Players to watch: Bolivar DB Colton Mayfield; McNairy WR Damari Stafford
What to know: Last year’s result shows the importance of this game. Bolivar won the competition among the other four teams in the region for the final playoff spot, but the Tigers lost this game, which caused a three-way tie for fourth. Winning this is important for both teams.
Region 7-4A
South Side (0-5, 0-2) at Lexington (5-0, 3-0)
Previous result: 2025 - Lexington 28, South Side 20
Players to watch: South Side WR Jacoby Burton; Lexington WR Aviance Huddleston
What to know: The Hawks enter this one looking like David, and Goliath wears red and lives in Henderson County. Lexington has proven to be one of the more balanced offensive attacks in West Tennessee, and they have different options on the ground and in the air to move the ball.
North Side (3-1, 2-1) at Crockett Co. (4-1, 2-1)
Previous result: 2025 - Crockett Co. 28, North Side 26
Players to watch: North Side RB Tyland Richmond; Crockett Co. ATH Demarrius Pickens
What to know: Both of these teams have a region loss, and they both came to Lexington, who’s in sole possession of the lead in the Region 7-4A standings. In addition to Pickens, the Indians will have to be ready to stop the Cavaliers’ ground game with big running back D.K. Woods, who they had trouble stopping when they met in Jackson last year. But North Side showed in last week’s victory they can move the ball on the ground and in the air, and a balanced attack could be what’s needed to pick up a win here.
South Gibson (2-3, 1-1) at Dyer Co. (2-3, 0-3)
Previous meeting: 2025 - South Gibson 35, Dyer Co. 0
Players to watch: South Gibson LB Gabe Chatman; Dyer Co. DB River Johnson
What to know: The Choctaws are 0-3 in region play, and the Hornets have a win in the league against a winless South Side. The team that doesn’t win this game will need a lot of help to get into the playoffs. Both teams are hoping to have key players back from injury.
Region 8-4A
Haywood (3-2, 2-0) at Fayette-Ware (1-3, 0-1)
Previous meeting: 2025 - Haywood 53, Brighton 16
Players to watch: Haywood DB Jamarion Barbee; Fayette-Ware QB Justin Price
What to know: Haywood is looking to continue its dominance in the region, but the Wildcats are looking for anything to stop their program’s spiral. Even if they fail to get a win and fall to 0-2 in region play, if they can push Haywood to the brink of an upset, that could be a moral victory they can use for motivation going into the second half of the season.
Region 8-5A
Kingsbury (2-3, 0-0) at Brighton (2-3, 0-1)
Previous meeting: 2025 - Brighton 70, Kingsbury 6
Players to watch: Brighton WR Brett Cothran
What to know: The Cardinals need two things from this game - their first region win and to stop their three-game losing streak.
Division II-A West
Tipton-Rosemark (1-4, 1-1) at JCS (5-0, 1-0)
Previous result: JCS 42, Tipton-Rosemark 13
Players to watch: JCS LB Kylan White
What to know: The Eagles have been rolling along with not many close games in the fourth quarter. They’ve got a big game coming up next week, and this could be a trap game for them if they’re too busy looking ahead to the trip to their neighbors’ place on Windy City Road next week. TRA was the fourth team that made the playoffs last year and could be the best of the non-Jackson teams in this region, so this could be a dangerous game for the Eagles.
TCA (3-1, 1-1) at FACS (0-4, 0-2)
Previous result: 2028 - TCA 48, FACS 0
Players to watch: TCA DB Knox Atwood
What to know: This was the game last year when TCA had a three-touchdown lead in the first quarter before the offense took the field. FACS appears to be playing better ball this season, but the Lions can’t afford to be distracted if they want to stay on pace to compete for the region championship.
Harding Aca. (2-3, 1-1) at USJ (4-1, 3-0)
Previous result: 2025 - USJ 58, Harding Aca. 8
Players to watch: USJ LB Eli Yandell
What to know: Except for one week early on, the Bruins have done nothing each week but take care of their business consistently and come out on top without much of a fight from their region opponents late in the game. They’ll try to do that so they can prepare for a big non-region game next week.
Non-region
Chester Co. (3-2) at McKenzie (3-2)
Previous meeting: 2025 - McKenzie 41, Chester Co. 7
Players to watch: Chester Co. LB Chase Craft; McKenzie WR Jacoby Melton
What to know: If McKenzie gets this win, they will probably be in a more competitive fight to get it than they were last year. The Rebels are firing on all cylinders, while the Eagles have faltered in region weeks.
Gleason (0-5) at Perry Co. (1-4)
Previous meeting: 2025 - Perry Co. 42, Gleason 0
Players to watch: Gleason RB Andrew Bruce
What to know: The Bulldogs have a long trip to get focused on the task at hand in this matchup.
Lake Co. (2-2) at Fulton Co., Kent. (2-3)
Previous meeting: 2025 - Lake Co. 47, Fulton Co. 34
Players to watch: Lake Co. P Landdon Crockett
What to know: A win in this game won’t mean much toward the playoff race, but it could mean the world to the players trying to get their second win of the week after a team that beat them had to forfeit their win this week.
Ballard Memorial, Kent. (2-2) at South Fulton (3-1)
Previous meeting: 2025 - South Fulton 41, Ballard 0
Players to watch: South Fulton LB Shelton Johnson
What to know: The Red Devils have one more matchup before getting back into region place and trying to stay in the mix for the region championship.
Tishomingo, Miss. (3-1) at Adamsville (4-1)
Previous meeting: 2025 - Adamsville 41, Tishomingo Co. 14
Players to watch: Adamsville QB JC Gray
What to know: The ground game has emerged as a little less of a gamble to move the ball down the field in recent weeks for the Cardinals.
Fayette Aca. (2-3) at Halls (2-3)
Previous meeting: 2025 - Halls 13, Fayette Aca. 7
Players to watch: Fayette Aca. ATH Clay Anderson; Halls LB Kiestler Pipkin
What to know: These teams have identical records and have shown flashes of brilliance at different times but have a hard time consistently putting everything together for wins.
Westview (5-0) at Lausanne (1-2)
Previous meeting: 2025 - Westview 37, Lausanne 34
Players to watch: Westview K Kinzer Pratt
What to know: This could be a game Pratt gets some work on punting instead of kicking a handful of PATs before halftime. This was Westview’s only late-game challenge before the state semifinals a year ago.
Hardin Co. (3-2) at ECS (3-2)
Previous meeting: 2025 - Hardin Co. 34, ECS 28
Players to watch: Hardin Co. WR Landon Browder
What to know: Both of these teams are better this year and will present different challenges to each other. ECS’ offense looks a lot different as they run a single wing offense, but the Tigers have the ability to deal with that if the linebackers can be patient right after the snap.
Henry Co. (2-3) at Brentwood (4-1)
Previous meeting: 2025 - Henry Co. 25, Brentwood 16
Players to watch: Henry Co. DB Cade Martin
What to know: This could be Henry County’s least difficult non-region game of the season. This was a big win last year that turned their season around, and they’ll look to keep trending upward in region play.
Whitehaven (4-1) at Munford (4-0)
Previous meeting: 2025 - Munford 36, Whitehaven 35
Players to watch: Munford RB Qua Bell
What to know: The Cougars have overcome tough obstacles each of the last two weeks. This one will fall in that line as well. But it should pay off as the region schedule looks a lot simpler than their opponents out of the league.
