Brandon Shields · The Jackson Post
West Tennessee Blitz

No. 1 Westview (3-0) 54, Marshall Co. 6

Takeaway: If the Chargers could look better than what they had in the first two weeks, they accomplished that this week.

No. 2 Huntingdon (3-0, 1-0) 34, No. 5 Milan (2-1, 0-1) 14

Takeaway: With the exception of which team won, this game looked much like the first matchup between these two last year with the winner pulling away in the second half.

No. 3 Munford (2-0) did not play

No. 8 Lexington (3-0, 1-0) 33, No. 4 Crockett Co. (2-1, 0-1) 21

Takeaway: The Tigers come away with a big win and appear to be in the driver’s seat in the region championship race.

No. 6 Haywood (2-1, 1-0) 61, Craigmont 0

Takeaway: The Tomcats flexed their muscle in Region 8-4A.

Christian Co., Kent. 47, No. 7 McKenzie (1-2) 28

Takeaway: If Christian Co. were in Tennessee, they’d be Class 5A.

Hardin Co. (2-1, 1-0) 31, No. 9 Dyer Co. (2-1, 0-1) 28

Takeaway: The Tigers used ball control to pick up probably the biggest upset of the night in the region.

No. 10 Covington (2-1) 67, Frederick Douglass 14

Takeaway: The Chargers get back on track with a dominant performance.

Beech 27, Henry Co. (1-2) 0

Takeaway: The Patriots’ non-region schedule is considerably tougher than their region opponents.

Bolton 6, Fayette-Ware (1-2) 0

Takeaway: This loss for the Wildcats is puzzling as they couldn’t get their offense into the end zone.

Chester Co. (3-0, 1-0) 35, South Gibson (0-3, 0-1) 0

Takeaway: The Eagles show they appear to be one of the teams who will be in the thick of the region championship and playoff contention discussion.

Dresden 43 (1-2, 1-0), West Carroll (0-3, 0-1) 6

Takeaway: Dresden’s performance was a stark difference from its first two games.

Dyersburg (1-2) 69, Camden (0-3) 22

Takeaway: The Trojans get into Class 3A play for the first time in 2026 and win handily.

Greenfield (2-1) 41, Bruceton (2-1) 19

Takeaway: The Yellowjackets bounced back nicely to pick up the win.

Halls (2-1) 24, Bolivar (0-3) 0

Takeaway: Bolivar’s defense was better this week, but their offense was the issue in this shutout loss.

Humboldt (3-0, 1-0) 59, South Fulton (1-1, 0-1) 28

Takeaway: Humboldt’s success drought ending tour continues as the Vikings pick up their first win over South Fulton in a decade.

JCS (3-0) 31, ECS 21

Takeaway: The Eagles from Jackson don’t just have the ability to score. They can stop old-school running styles of offense too.

North Side (2-0, 1-0) 44, South Side (0-3, 0-1) 0

Takeaway: The Indians showed their dominance in the Jackson version of the Civil War this year.

JCM (2-1) 28, Brighton (2-1) 12

Takeaway: Considering what Brighton had done in the first two weeks, this win by the Cougars might be considered an upset despite them winning bigger at home last year.

Liberty (3-0) 44, Middleton (0-3) 6

Takeaway: The Crusaders continue to show their athletic potential with another dominant win.

Obion Co. (3-0) 37, Gleason (0-3) 8

Takeaway: The Rebels continue to do what they should be doing if they want to be a good team against the teams on their schedule.

Peabody (2-1, 1-0) 41, Gibson Co. (1-2, 0-1) 6

Takeaway: The Golden Tide had their best performance of the season saved for their closest neighbor.

Ripley (1-2) 44, Lake Co. (0-3) 13

Takeaway: Ripley gets its first win in 15 games.

Riverside (2-1) 28, Union City (0-3) 13

Takeaway: The Panthers have made strong showings in all three of their games, while the Tornadoes are looking like they’re on their way to being a contender but have just had a tough schedule so far.

St. Benedict 37, Fayette Aca. (1-2) 10

Takeaway: The Vikings were subjected to taking on a team that was much deeper and athletic than it was a year ago.

USJ (2-1, 1-0) 35, TCA (2-1, 0-1) 7

Takeaway: The Bruins looked much more efficient this week on offense.

McNairy (3-0) 20, Wayne Co. 14

Collinwood 34, Scotts Hill (0-3) 0

Takeaway: The Lions are still trying to find their way to put two complete games on both sides of the ball together.

Adamsville (2-1) 34, Kossuth, Miss. 7

Takeaway: The Cardinals had their way in Mississippi all night before Kossuth got on the scoreboard in the fourth quarter.
