West TN Blitz top 10 after Week 6

There wasn’t a lot of movement in The Blitz’s top 10 rankings this week.

Munford was the only team that took a loss but stayed No. 3.

Milan didn’t lose their game and still fell out of the list from No. 9, making way for University School of Jackson to return to the ranking.

USJ’s neighbors, Jackson Christian School actually rose four spots to No. 6 with their unbeaten record.

There are no top 10 matchups in Week 7, but a number of teams play opponents that are a win or two away from being ranked and could be dangerous teams on their schedule.

1 Westview (6-0): The Chargers went on a long road trip into Memphis and came out with a win. Last week’s ranking: 1. This week’s result: Beat Lausanne 42-24. Next week’s opponent: At Ripley.

2 Huntingdon (6-0): The Mustangs easily stayed unbeaten. Last week’s ranking: 2. This week’s result: Beat Gibson Co. 55-0. Next week’s opponent: At Riverside on Thursday.

3 Munford (4-1): The voters respect the Cougars enough to keep them ranked high after a loss to a bigger school. Last week’s ranking: 3. This week’s result: Lost to Whitehaven 42-13. Next week’s opponent: Host Kingsbury.

4 Lexington (6-0): The Tigers handled a longtime rival for homecoming. Last week’s ranking: 4. This week’s result: Beat South Side 72-14. Next week’s opponent: At South Gibson.

5 Covington (5-1): The Chargers continue to roll through their region schedule. Last week’s ranking: 5. This week’s result: Beat Ripley 36-3. Next week’s opponent: Host Bolivar.

6 JCS (6-0): The Eagles did not overlook this week’s opponent to a bigger game this week. Last week’s ranking: 10. This week’s result: Beat Tipton-Rosemark 41-14. Next week’s opponent: At TCA.

7 Crockett Co. (5-1): The Cavaliers have been on a tear since their Week 3 loss. Last week’s ranking: 6. This week’s result: Beat North Side 42-7. Next week’s opponent: At Dyersburg.

8 McKenzie (4-2): The Rebels got a win over a team three classes bigger than them. Last week’s ranking: 7. This week’s result: Beat Chester Co. 42-7. Next week’s opponent: Host Collinwood.

9 Humboldt (6-0): The Vikings got their biggest win of the year last year. Last week’s ranking: 8. This week’s result: Beat Dresden 42-8. Next week’s opponent: Host Greenfield.

10 USJ (5-1): The Bruins continue to wreak dominate against their region opponents. Last week’s ranking: Received votes. This week’s result: Beat Harding Aca. 49-7. Next week’s opponent: Host Marshall Co.
