Lexington makes big jump in rankings
Here's a look at the latest top 10 in rural West Tennessee

With two top 10 matchups this past week, we knew there would probably be some movement in the rankings, but when a couple more teams lose to fall to 1-2, that created a couple of open spots.
Jackson Christian and Chester County enter the rankings for the first time this week with unbeaten Humboldt lurking behind them looking for a spot to slip into.
Westview and Huntingdon remain at the top after big wins, while Munford stays right behind them after their opening week.
Then none of the seven teams that were ranked after them last week are in the same position this week.
No. 1 Westview (3-0): This victory was head coach Matt McConnell’s 100th career win. Last week’s ranking: 1. Week 3 result: Beat Marshall Co. 54-6. Next week: vs. Host Obion Co.
No. 2 Huntingdon (3-0): The Mustangs have now completed all of their early season “drama” games without a loss. Last week’s ranking: 2. Week 3 result: Beat Milan 34-14. Next week: Host Halls.
No. 3 Munford (2-0): Whatever bumps and bruises they got early on, they had a chance to heal up. Last week’s ranking: 3. Week 3 result: Open. Next week: Hosting Woodford Co., Kent.

No. 5 Haywood (2-1): The Tomcats looked like the bully in the region they’re expected to be. Last week’s ranking: 6. Week 3 result: Beat Craigmont 61-0. Next week: Host Lakeland Prep.
No. 6 Crockett Co. (2-1): The Cavaliers let a big-time matchup at home get away at the end. Last week’s ranking: 4. Week 3 result: Lost to No. X Lexington 33-21. Next week: at Dyer Co.
No. 7 Milan (2-1): The younger Bulldogs have had a chance to grow up some in the last couple weeks. Last week’s ranking: 5. Week 3 result: Lost to No. 2 Huntingdon 34-14. Next week: at Chattanooga Prep on Saturday.
No. 8 Covington (2-1): The Chargers needed a win like this to erase the result from the previous week from their memory. Last week’s ranking: 10. Week 3 result: Beat Douglass 67-14. Next week: Host Brighton.
No. 9 JCS (3-0): The Eagles’ win resume may be the most impressive among local unbeaten teams. Last week’s ranking: NR. Week 3 result: Beat ECS 31-21. Next week: at St. George’s.
No. 10 Chester Co. (3-0): The Eagles are showing what they can do when they’re older and physically larger. Last week’s ranking: NR. Week 3 result: Beat South Gibson 35-0. Next week: at Hardin Co.
