Top 10 teams after Week 8

There’s no change in this week’s list of the top 10 teams in the 20-county coverage area of West TN Blitz.

That’s mainly because of the 10 teams ranked last week, five had their bye week. 

Of the five teams that won, the closest final score was a point differential of 27 points, and they averaged winning by 47.2 points.

Three more teams have their bye week in Week 9 including the top two teams from Westview and Huntingdon.

There are no ranked matchups, but there are some intriguing region games as Munford, Covington, Crockett County and Humboldt have key games in their respective leagues.

Lexington and North Side both make long trips into Middle Tennessee for non-region games.

4 Munford (6-1): The Chargers have recorded lopsided shutouts in four of their six wins. Last week’s ranking: 4. This week’s result: Beat Overton 63-0. Next week’s game: At Brighton.

5 Covington (6-1): The Chargers are about to get into the meat of their region schedule. Last week’s ranking: 5. This week’s result: Bye week. Next week’s game: At Dyersburg.

6 Crockett Co. (6-1): The Cavaliers are in position to host a first-round playoff game if they continue their high level of play. Last week’s ranking: 6. This week’s result: Bye week. Next week’s game: Vs. South Gibson.

7 Humboldt (7-0): The Vikings can secure the region championship with one more win. Last week’s ranking: 7. This week’s result: Bye week. Next week’s game: Vs. Lake Co.

8 McKenzie (6-2): The Rebels get their bye week then a couple of weeks to prepare for the playoffs. Last week’s ranking: 8. This week’s result: Beat Bruceton 63-0. Next week’s game: Bye week.

9 Haywood (5-2): The Tomcats come out of their bye week in position to win their seventh region championship in eight years. Last week’s ranking: 9. This week’s result: Bye week. Next week’s game: Vs. Memphis Business.

10 North Side (5-2): The Indians have achieved one goal with a Commissioners’ Cup. Up next is clinching a playoff spot. Last week’s ranking: 10. This week’s result: Beat Liberty 42-7. Next week’s game: At Giles Co.
